Antique Victorian French Sterling Silver Rose Gold STAR Bangle Bracelet

OXFORD JEWEL Curated Jewels for the Vintage Collector ____________________________________________________________________________________ Stars, like the ones that appear to burst with light across the front of this bracelet, were meaningful motifs during the Victorian era. As astronomy became more advanced, stars suggested a far-off dream—to one day travel beyond the Earth and reach a star. Thus, stars-as-symbols began to represent hope. Though we’ve now achieved part of the Victorian-era dream and ventured into outer space, stars still remain a beacon for progress today as we press deeper into the last frontier. This star bracelet from the Victorian era is made from sterling silver, but the stars are plated in rose gold for a gleaming, warm contrast (not unlike stars against a night sky). Each one is surrounded by etches in the silver, conveying rays of hot light. Condition Very good, the safety chain is a replacement but the safety chain loops are in place and original. There are no dents or irregularities to the shape of the bracelet and the surface has a fresh patina with little surface scratching or wear to the rose gold plating. ____________________________________________________________________________________Length 7 3/4” inside circumferenceWidth 3/4″Mark See photo (French silver and maker marks)Clasp Secure, the safety chain is a replacementWeight 24 gramsPeriod Late Victorian Material Tests for sterling silver with rose gold plating Collector’s Tip – On classic collectablesThere are certain pieces that fall into a distinct collectable category, sometimes referred to as “classics.” However, the most collectable of these classics are those that include something special (such as an extra design element) that set them apart from other similar pieces. On signed piecesA piece of jewelry that has been signed by the designer is immediately of higher value, because it definitively places the work in their oeuvre. This gives the piece a personal history that it might not otherwise have—fixed in place, time, style, and intent. In addition, signed designer pieces indicate that a designer viewed the work as worthy enough to want his or her name to be forever associated with it. This indicates that the piece was made with a concentration on high-quality construction or perhaps trendy or progressive design. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Jewelry is carefully wrapped and shipped in boxes to ensure vintage pieces arrive safely.Domestic Packages ship via USPS First Class mail for a flat fee of $4.00 which includes tracking and full insurance.
